Feudalism in India

Feudalism in India was a social and economic system that flourished from ancient to medieval times. It was characterized by a hierarchy of land ownership and loyalty. Kings granted large estates to nobles (or landlords) in exchange for military service and protection. These nobles would then allow peasants to farm the land in return for a portion of the crops. This created a system of mutual obligation, where the king relied on nobles for governance, and peasants depended on landlords for land and safety. Such a structure influenced social relations, politics, and economics in various Indian regions.
