Jagirdari System
The Jagirdari System was a historical land and revenue management system used in India, primarily during Mughal rule and later periods. Under this system, the government granted land (called jagirs) to individuals known as jagirdars or zamindars in exchange for their service or loyalty. These jagirdars had the authority to collect revenue from the land and manage local administration. However, they didn't own the land outright; their rights were granted by the state. The system promoted decentralization, with jagirdars acting as local authorities responsible for maintaining order, collecting taxes, and serving the state's interests.
