Express Authority

Express authority refers to the power explicitly granted to an agent or representative to act on behalf of another person or organization, typically outlined in a contract or agreement. This authority can be verbal or written and clearly defines what actions the agent can take. For example, if a business owner gives a manager written permission to sign contracts, that manager has express authority to do so. If the manager exceeds that authority, the business owner may not be bound by those actions. Essentially, it’s about clear, direct permission to represent someone else's interests.
