Edward Teach (Blackbeard)
Edward Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard, was a notorious English pirate who operated during the early 18th century, particularly in the West Indies and along the American colonies. He is famous for his fearsome appearance, often enhancing his image with slow-burning fuses in his beard to create a dramatic effect. Blackbeard commanded the ship Queen Anne's Revenge and was involved in numerous acts of piracy, capturing ships and goods. He became a legendary figure in pirate folklore and was ultimately killed in a fierce battle off the coast of North Carolina in 1718, marking the decline of the Golden Age of Piracy.
