Edward Syndrome
Edward Syndrome, also known as Trisomy 18, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra 18th chromosome. This condition leads to severe developmental delays, heart defects, and a range of other health issues. Babies born with Edward Syndrome often have distinct physical features, such as a small head, clenched fists, and abnormal ear shapes. The majority of affected infants face significant challenges, with many not surviving past their first year. Care and support focus on improving quality of life, but the prognosis is generally poor, with limited long-term survival.
