Eastern Jin

The Eastern Jin dynasty (317–420 AD) was a Chinese imperial dynasty that emerged after the fall of the Western Jin. Following internal strife and invasions, the court relocated to Nanjing, establishing its capital there. The era is marked by cultural achievements, including advancements in literature and the arts, while also facing challenges from local warlords and northern tribes. The Eastern Jin is significant for its attempts to consolidate power and maintain stability during a time of fragmentation in China, ultimately contributing to the transition toward the Southern Dynasties period.
