Dunkirk evacuation

The Dunkirk evacuation, known as Operation Dynamo, took place during World War II in May-June 1940. It involved the rescue of around 338,000 Allied soldiers trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk, France, by advancing German forces. Facing imminent capture, the British Navy and civilian boats undertook a daring operation to evacuate the troops across the English Channel to safety in Britain. Despite the turmoil, this evacuation became a symbol of resilience and hope, allowing the Allies to regroup and continue fighting against Nazi Germany. The event is often remembered for its heroism and the "Dunkirk Spirit."
