Operation Dynamo
Operation Dynamo was a military evacuation during World War II in May 1940, designed to rescue Allied soldiers trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk, France, by advancing German forces. Over nine days, a combination of British Royal Navy ships, civilian boats, and fishing vessels transported approximately 338,000 troops across the English Channel to safety in Britain. This operation was a remarkable logistical effort that prevented a complete defeat, boosted Allied morale, and allowed the British army to regroup and continue fighting. It is often seen as a testament to resourcefulness and collective effort during a crisis.
