Divorce (Talaq)

Divorce (Talaq) in Islamic law is the formal process through which a man can end his marriage. It typically involves him pronouncing "talaq" three times, either in one sitting or over a period of time, which initiates a waiting period (iddah) for the woman. This period allows for reflection and potential reconciliation. Talaq can be categorized into different types, such as revocable and irrevocable. Women also have the option of seeking divorce through a process called "khula," where they can initiate divorce under certain conditions, often involving compensation to the husband.
