Dissociative fugue
Dissociative fugue is a rare psychological condition characterized by sudden, unexpected travel away from home or customary work locations, along with an inability to recall one's past. During this episode, individuals may assume a new identity or engage in activities without awareness of their previous life. It often occurs in response to severe stress or trauma, serving as a coping mechanism. While the person may return to their original life eventually, the experience can lead to confusion and difficulty reintegrating due to lost memories. Treatment typically involves therapy to address underlying issues.
