Desensitization
Desensitization is a psychological process where repeated exposure to a stimulus reduces an individual's emotional reactions to it. This can occur in various contexts, such as becoming less sensitive to violence in media after frequent viewing or gradually overcoming fear of certain situations through gradual exposure. In therapy, desensitization techniques help people confront and reduce their fears or anxieties by gradually engaging with the source of their discomfort in a controlled manner, allowing them to build tolerance and reduce their emotional response over time.
