Dengue virus

Dengue virus is a mosquito-borne virus that causes dengue fever, a tropical illness. It's primarily transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which thrives in urban areas. Symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and rash. Most cases are mild, but it can lead to severe complications, such as dengue hemorrhagic fever, which can be life-threatening. There’s no specific treatment for dengue, so prevention through mosquito control and personal protection, such as using repellents and wearing protective clothing, is crucial. Vaccines are available in some regions for specific populations.
