Decay function
A decay function describes how a quantity decreases over time. In various contexts, such as physics and finance, it shows the gradual reduction of something, like radioactive materials losing energy or investments losing value. Mathematically, it can often be represented as an exponential function, indicating that the amount decreases more rapidly at first and then slows down over time. For example, if you have a pile of sand and you keep removing a smaller portion each time, the pile will shrink quickly at first, but as it gets smaller, the remaining amount reduces more slowly.
