Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was a Polish-German physicist and engineer born in 1686. He is best known for inventing the mercury thermometer and for developing the Fahrenheit temperature scale, which is still used today in the United States. Fahrenheit's thermometer allowed for more precise temperature measurements compared to earlier devices. His temperature scale defines the freezing point of water at 32 degrees and the boiling point at 212 degrees.
