Aneroid vs Mercury Barometer
An aneroid barometer and a mercury barometer are both instruments used to measure atmospheric pressure. A mercury barometer consists of a glass tube filled with mercury; as air pressure changes, it pushes the mercury up or down, indicating pressure levels. In contrast, an aneroid barometer uses a small, flexible metal box (aneroid cell) that expands or contracts with pressure changes, moving a needle on a dial for easy reading. While mercury barometers are highly accurate, they can be heavy and fragile, whereas aneroid barometers are portable and rugged, making them popular for everyday use.
