Cytomegalovirus

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus that belongs to the herpes virus family. It's found in many people and often doesn't cause symptoms, but can lead to health issues, especially in pregnant individuals, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems. CMV can be transmitted through bodily fluids, such as saliva, urine, and breast milk. While most healthy people can fight off the virus without serious problems, it can cause complications in vulnerable groups, including developmental issues in babies and severe infections in those with compromised immunity. Managing CMV often involves monitoring and, in some cases, antiviral medications.
