Cybersyn Project

The Cybersyn Project was an ambitious initiative developed in Chile during the early 1970s under President Salvador Allende. It aimed to create a real-time computer system to manage the national economy by connecting factories, monitoring production, and facilitating decision-making. The project utilized cybernetics, a field that blends computer science and systems theory, to enhance efficiency and resource distribution. Led by British cybernetician Stafford Beer, Cybersyn sought to empower democratic socialism through technology, but it was ultimately short-lived due to political unrest and the military coup in 1973 that overthrew Allende's government.
