covert narcissism

Covert narcissism refers to a more subtle and less obvious form of narcissism compared to its overt counterpart. Individuals with covert narcissism often appear shy or modest but harbor a deep need for validation and admiration. They may feel insecure and experience feelings of victimhood, while secretly believing they are superior to others. Unlike overt narcissists, who seek attention openly, covert narcissists may manipulate through passive-aggressive behavior or withdrawal, often feeling misunderstood and unappreciated. Their self-centeredness can lead to difficulties in forming genuine, healthy relationships, as they focus more on their inner world than on others’ needs.
