Cluny Church
Cluny Church, or the Abbey of Cluny, is a Benedictine monastery founded in 910 in Cluny, France. It became a major center for monastic reform in the medieval period, promoting a strict observance of the Benedictine Rule. Its influence led to the establishment of numerous daughter monasteries across Europe. The original church, completed in the 12th century, was renowned for its architectural grandeur, featuring a massive Romanesque design. Cluny played a significant role in the development of European monasticism and culture until its decline following the French Revolution, which ultimately led to its destruction.
