CJKV (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese)
CJKV refers to the group of East Asian languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese. Each language has distinct grammar and vocabulary, but they share some writing systems, particularly Chinese characters (hanzi in Chinese, kanji in Japanese, hanja in Korean, and chữ Hán in Vietnamese). This shared use of characters reflects historical influences and cultural exchange. Despite these connections, each language has its unique phonetics, syntax, and linguistic features, making them distinct languages in their own right while also revealing commonalities that highlight their interconnected heritage.
