Kana

In Japanese writing, "Kana" refers to the syllabic scripts used to represent sounds, comprising two types: Hiragana and Katakana. Each character corresponds to a specific syllable, enabling the writing of native words, grammatical particles, and loanwords. Hiragana is often used for native words and grammatical endings, while Katakana is primarily used for foreign terms, onomatopoeia, and emphasis. Together, Kana provide a phonetic component to Japanese writing, complementing kanji characters, which convey meanings. This system allows Japanese to be written efficiently, accurately capturing pronunciation and grammatical structure.
