Children's Crusade

The Children's Crusade refers to a historical event in 1212, when thousands of European children set out on a mission to peacefully reclaim Jerusalem from Muslim control during the Crusades. Driven by religious zeal, they believed that children could succeed where adults had failed. However, many met tragic fates, including being sold into slavery or perishing at sea. The movement highlighted the fervent spirituality of the time and the exploitation of innocence. Although it did not achieve its goals, the Children's Crusade remains a poignant example of youthful idealism and the consequences of misguided intentions in history.
