Channel (English Channel)

The English Channel, also known as La Manche, is a narrow body of water that separates southern England from northern France. It is about 21 miles (34 kilometers) wide at its narrowest point, known as the Strait of Dover. The Channel serves as a major shipping route and is famous for its historical significance, especially during events like World War II. It is also known for the Channel Tunnel, a rail link that runs beneath it, connecting the two countries and facilitating travel and trade. The waters are busy with ferries, cargo ships, and small boats.
