La Manche
La Manche, known as the English Channel, is the body of water separating southern England from northern France. It connects the North Sea to the Atlantic Ocean and spans approximately 21 miles (34 kilometers) at its narrowest point, notably between Dover in England and Calais in France. The Channel plays a crucial role in international shipping, migration, and cultural exchange. Its relatively shallow waters, varying from 150 to 250 meters deep, have made it a historic and strategic crossing point for thousands of years, with ferry services, undersea tunnels, and maritime traffic regularly traversing its surface.
