The Bristol Channel

The Bristol Channel is a large inlet of the sea in southwest England, separating Wales from England. It stretches approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the Severn Estuary in the south to the mouth of the River Avon in the north. Notable for its significant tidal changes, the channel experiences some of the highest tides in the world. The cities of Bristol and Cardiff are located near its banks, and it has historically been important for trade and transport. Its rich marine ecosystem and scenic views also make it a popular spot for recreation and tourism.
