Chandrayaan (Indian Lunar Exploration Program)
Chandrayaan is India's lunar exploration program, launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The first mission, Chandrayaan-1, successfully orbited the Moon in 2008, discovering water molecules on the lunar surface. Following that, Chandrayaan-2 was launched in 2019 with an orbiter, lander, and rover; while the orbiter continues to send valuable data, the lander experienced a landing failure. Chandrayaan aims to enhance scientific understanding of the Moon, explore its resources, and demonstrate India's capabilities in space technology. The program signifies India's growing role in global space exploration efforts.
