Château Gaillard

Château Gaillard is a medieval fortress built in the late 12th century by Richard the Lionheart, the King of England. Located in France, near the Seine River, it was designed to protect Normandy from French invasions. The castle features impressive architecture, including thick walls and towers. Its strategic position allowed for surveillance and defense. Despite its strength, Château Gaillard fell to French forces in the early 15th century and eventually fell into ruins. Today, it stands as a historical site, illustrating the military architecture and feudal power struggles of the Middle Ages.
