Centrifugation
Centrifugation is a process that uses rapid spinning to separate substances based on their density. In a centrifuge, samples are placed in tubes and spun at high speeds. This generates a strong force that pushes denser materials, like cells or particles, to the bottom of the tube, forming layers. Lighter materials remain above. It's commonly used in laboratories to separate blood components, purify proteins, or isolate cells. Essentially, centrifugation is a reliable method for sorting mixtures efficiently by taking advantage of gravitational forces enhanced by speed.
