catheterization labs

Catheterization labs, often called cath labs, are specialized medical facilities where doctors perform procedures using catheters—thin, flexible tubes. These labs are primarily used for diagnosing and treating heart conditions, such as blocked arteries. During a procedure, doctors insert a catheter through a blood vessel, typically in the groin or wrist, to reach the heart or other blood vessels. This allows for imaging tests like angiograms to visualize blood flow and identify issues. Treatments, such as angioplasty or stent placement, can also be performed to restore proper blood flow, making cath labs essential for cardiac care.
