Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure used when someone’s heart stops beating or they stop breathing. It combines chest compressions and rescue breaths to help circulate blood and oxygen to vital organs until medical help arrives. Chest compressions involve pressing down hard and fast in the center of the chest, while rescue breaths involve giving breaths to the person by sealing your lips over theirs. CPR can significantly increase the chances of survival in cardiac arrest situations and is a critical skill for bystanders in emergencies. Knowing CPR can save lives.
