Heimlich Maneuver

The Heimlich Maneuver is a first aid technique used to help someone who is choking on food or an object. When a person’s airway is blocked, applying quick, inward and upward pressure on their abdomen (just above the navel) can expel the obstruction. This action increases pressure in the chest cavity, forcing the trapped object out and allowing the person to breathe again. It’s important to act promptly and carefully, and if the person becomes unresponsive, seek emergency help and consider CPR. The maneuver can be life-saving by restoring airflow and preventing suffocation.
