Cardiac Assist Devices

Cardiac assist devices are medical devices designed to help the heart pump blood more effectively. They are often used for patients with severe heart conditions, such as heart failure, where the heart is unable to function properly on its own. Common types include ventricular assist devices (VADs), which support the heart's ventricles, and total artificial hearts, which can take over the heart's functions entirely. These devices can improve the patient's quality of life, extend survival, and sometimes bridge patients to heart transplantation or allow their hearts to recover.
