BiVAD

BiVAD, or biventricular assist device, is a medical device used to support patients with severe heart failure affecting both the right and left sides of the heart. It consists of two pumps—one assisting the left ventricle (which pumps blood to the body) and the other supporting the right ventricle (which pumps blood to the lungs). These devices temporarily take over the heart's pumping function, allowing the heart to rest and recover or serve as a bridge to transplantation. BiVADs help maintain proper blood flow and oxygen delivery when the heart's own function is critically impaired.
