Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) was established in response to the devastating earthquakes that struck the Canterbury region of New Zealand, particularly in Christchurch, in 2010 and 2011. Its primary role was to coordinate recovery efforts, rebuilding infrastructure, and supporting affected communities. CERA worked with local authorities, government agencies, and residents to facilitate the recovery process and ensure a resilient and sustainable rebuild of homes, businesses, and public services. It operated from 2011 until 2016, after which its functions were transitioned to other local agencies, marking a pivotal phase in the recovery of the region.
