CERA (Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority)
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) was established by the New Zealand government in 2011 in response to the severe earthquakes that struck the Canterbury region, particularly Christchurch, in 2010 and 2011. Its primary role was to oversee and coordinate the recovery efforts, focusing on rebuilding infrastructure, housing, and community services. CERA worked with local authorities, organizations, and residents to ensure a collaborative recovery process. The authority aimed to restore normalcy, support economic revitalization, and enhance resilience to future natural disasters. CERA was officially disestablished in 2016 as recovery efforts transitioned to local governments.
