Burmese language
Burmese, or Myanmar language, is the official language of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) and is spoken by approximately 33 million people. It belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language family and uses a unique script derived from the Brahmic alphabets. Burmese is a tonal language, meaning the pitch used when pronouncing words can change their meanings. The grammar is subject-object-verb (SOV) and features a range of honorifics to show respect. As the lingua franca of Myanmar's diverse ethnic groups, Burmese plays a crucial role in the country’s identity and cultural expression.
