Bundschuh movement
The Bundschuh movement was a popular uprising in Germany during the late Middle Ages, particularly in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was primarily driven by peasants and lower-class workers who sought social and economic reforms. The movement derived its name from a type of footwear, the "Bundschuh," symbolizing the common people. Participants protested against oppressive feudal conditions, high taxes, and social injustices. The movement reflected wider discontent with the ruling elites and was part of a larger wave of social upheaval, including the Reformation, which sought to challenge traditional authority and improve the lives of ordinary people.
