Bruce–Balliol Wars
The Bruce–Balliol Wars were a series of conflicts in 13th and early 14th century Scotland, primarily between the supporters of Robert the Bruce and those loyal to the Balliol family. The main issue was control of the Scottish crown, which was deeply contested after the death of Alexander III and subsequent power struggles. These wars played a crucial role in Scotland's quest for independence from England, culminating in notable battles like the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, where Bruce's forces won a significant victory, solidifying Scottish resistance against English rule.
