Bone Marrow Failure

Bone marrow failure occurs when the bone marrow, the spongy tissue inside bones, doesn't produce enough blood cells. This can lead to a shortage of red blood cells (causing anemia), white blood cells (leading to increased infections), and platelets (resulting in bleeding issues). The condition may be caused by factors like genetic disorders, exposure to toxins, certain medications, or diseases such as leukemia. Symptoms can include fatigue, easy bruising, and frequent infections. Treatment options vary and may involve medications, blood transfusions, or, in severe cases, bone marrow transplants.
