Bijapur Sultanate
The Bijapur Sultanate was a prominent state in southern India from the late 15th to the 17th centuries. It emerged after the decline of the Bahmani Sultanate, with its capital in Bijapur (now in Karnataka). The sultanate is known for its rich architectural legacy, including the famous Gol Gumbaz, and a diverse culture influenced by Persian, Indian, and Muslim traditions. It played a significant role in regional politics, often clashing with neighboring powers like the Mughal Empire. The Bijapur Sultanate eventually fell to the Mughals in the late 17th century, marking an important shift in Indian history.
