Adil Shah dynasty

The Adil Shah dynasty was a Muslim ruling family that governed the Bijapur Sultanate in South India from 1490 to 1686. Founded by Yusuf Adil Shah, they were known for their contributions to culture, architecture, and military strength during their rule. The dynasty played a key role in resisting larger empires like the Mughal Empire and fostering a vibrant Indo-Islamic culture. Their capital, Bijapur, became famous for its impressive forts, mosques, and palaces. The Adil Shah dynasty eventually fell to the Mughals, ending their rule in the late 17th century.
