Berkeley Philosophy

Berkeley Philosophy, primarily associated with philosopher George Berkeley, asserts that reality consists of ideas rather than material substances. He famously stated, "To be is to be perceived," meaning that objects only exist when they are observed or experienced. Berkeley rejected the notion of material substance, proposing instead that the physical world is a collection of perceptions maintained by a divine spirit. This perspective emphasizes that our understanding of reality is shaped by our sensory experiences and suggests that the mind is central to all existence. Hence, knowledge comes from interaction with our perceptions, not from a material world independent of us.
