Bengal Native Infantry
The Bengal Native Infantry was a military branch of the British East India Company, established in the 18th century, primarily made up of Indian soldiers, known as sepoys. These units played a crucial role in the Company's military operations in India. The Bengal Native Infantry was significant during events such as the Indian Rebellion of 1857, when many sepoys revolted against British rule. Following the rebellion, the structure of the Indian Army changed, leading to the disbandment of these units and the establishment of a more controlled British-led military force in India.
