Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was a major World War II conflict that took place from December 16, 1944, to January 25, 1945. It was the last significant German offensive on the Western Front, aimed at splitting the Allied forces and capturing the vital supply port of Antwerp. The attack caught Allied forces by surprise in the Ardennes forest, creating a "bulge" in their defensive lines. Despite initial successes, harsh winter conditions and strong Allied resistance turned the tide. Ultimately, the Allies prevailed, depleting German resources and hastening the end of the war in Europe.
