Barons' War

The Barons' War (1215-1217) was a conflict in England between a group of rebellious barons and King John. Triggered by John’s heavy taxation and failure to honor the Magna Carta, the barons sought to limit the king's power and protect their rights. They formed a coalition and captured key towns, but the conflict intensified when John sought to regain control. The war ended with a combination of military defeats for the barons and the intervention of the French. Ultimately, it reaffirmed the importance of the Magna Carta and highlighted the struggle for barons' rights against royal authority.
