Bahmani Sultanate

The Bahmani Sultanate was a Muslim kingdom in South India, established in 1347 and lasting until the 16th century. It emerged as a reaction to the decline of the Delhi Sultanate and ruled over parts of present-day Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana. The sultanate was known for its rich culture, marked by advancements in art, architecture, and literature, and was an important center of trade. It played a significant role in the spread of Islam in South India and often engaged in conflicts with neighboring states, including the Vijayanagara Empire. The Bahmani Sultanate eventually fractured into smaller states known as the Deccan Sultanates.
