Baddeley and Hitch
Baddeley and Hitch proposed a model of working memory that suggests it's not a single store, but consists of multiple components. Their model includes a central executive that manages attention and coordinates information, along with two subsystems: the phonological loop, which handles verbal information, and the visuospatial sketchpad, responsible for visual and spatial data. This framework helps us understand how we temporarily hold and manipulate information in our minds while doing tasks, emphasizing that memory is active and multifaceted, rather than just a simple storage system.
