Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global program established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to promote breastfeeding and ensure that mothers receive the necessary support during and after childbirth. Hospitals participating in this initiative follow best practices, such as skin-to-skin contact after birth, helping mothers learn to breastfeed, and providing a supportive environment. The goal is to improve infant health and well-being by encouraging breastfeeding, which offers numerous benefits for both babies and mothers. Hospitals that meet these standards are recognized as "Baby-Friendly."
