Ba2+ (Barium ion)
Barium ion (Ba²⁺) is a positively charged particle formed when barium, a metallic element, loses two electrons. It is a member of the alkaline earth metals group and is typically found in nature combined with other elements. Barium ions are used in various applications, including in medical imaging (barium meals for X-rays), in fireworks for their bright green color, and in some industrial processes. While barium itself is relatively safe in controlled uses, the ion can be toxic in high concentrations, making proper handling important in chemical applications.
