Alkali Earth Metals

Alkali Earth Metals are a group of elements found in Group 2 of the periodic table, including magnesium, calcium, and barium. They are reactive metals, though less so than alkali metals like sodium and potassium. These elements are characterized by having two electrons in their outermost shell, making them tend to lose those electrons and form positive ions. They are commonly found in the Earth's crust and have important uses in construction, manufacturing, and biological systems—for example, calcium is vital for bones, and magnesium is used in electronics. Their properties include being shiny, silvery metals with relatively high melting points.
